Reach the exact station
Read the complete station name, including direction words such as North or South, and show it in Chinese to the driver or map. Do not ask simply for “the train station.” Check which entrance is open and how far the drop-off point is from the hall. Large complexes can take time to approach through traffic and pedestrian controls.
Aim for a generous margin rather than a universal minute rule. Holiday queues, metro transfers, rain and unfamiliar entrances change the answer. Have the passport and train details ready before reaching the first checkpoint; searching a bag for documents while a queue moves around you creates stress.
Pass identity and security checks
At an entrance checkpoint, use a staffed lane if the automated reader does not accept the foreign passport. Present the original document associated with the ticket.
